a Hedgehog & her cat!
Lilith & Zombie
Lilith & Zombie
Everyone on our site will be familiar with our main muse for the forum, Lilith. But did you know Lilith has her own cat?
Lilith and Zombie are both mine. They have vastly different personalities and both have inspired a great deal of love in my heart.

Zombie was a stray for almost six years before he became a part of my life. The poor tom had clearly lived a rough life before he chose me to be his human. With tattered ears and cracked toe pads he spent a long time toughing out the cold Canadian winters.
When I took my first step into adulthood by moving out into my first home away from my parents I was graced with his presence for the first time. The poor cat looked half starved and spent a good chunk of his time hiding in our back yard to avoid the children in our neighbourhood. He was timid and scared, and I pitied him every time I saw him scurrying up our fence. He looked to be a murky orange brown in color, with a dirty pelt and sad eyes.
As the weather grew colder and food grew more scarce he started spending much more time in my yard. I tried to distance myself from my bleeding heart; After all, we already had a cat. But as the days went by and the weather got worse I couldn't help myself from feeling sorry for him. Watching him waste away was more than I could bear. I finally told my boyfriend Alex that I had to go out and feed him. He said "You know he will never leave if you do that, right?" I smiled at him and said, "Well, he doesn't seem to be leaving now. Might as well make sure he has enough body mass to keep him warm over the winter."
So that day I took the ragged tom his first meal. With a fresh can of wet food I stepped out into the chilly air and tried to spot him. There he was, sitting on his little rock perch in our back yard. I tried to call him over but he ran off before he noticed the food. I opted to leave the can out for him anyways. I checked the damage in the morning and the entire can had been emptied. Satisfied I continued on with my day.
Upon coming home I ran to our backyard, not wanting to admit I was growing fond for the little stray. Sure enough there he was, sitting on his perch. I came outside with a bowl of dry food and tried to coax him over again. This time he was convinced I was friendly and cautiously made his way up our steps for his meal.
I continued this pattern for almost a month. Worried about the temperature dropping and started to do whatever I could to help him. I put together an insulated shelter that I placed in our yard in hopes that he may use it to escape the cold. In that time I began to toy with the idea of adopting a new furry friend, and he became very enthusiastic to see me. The tom would chirp excitedly whenever I'd come outside and curl himself happily around my legs. His purr was deep and throaty, and he drooled a little bit any time I would scratch his head.
I couldn't help but love him.
