Appropriate housing
Hedgehogs may be fairly small, but believe it or not they need a fairly significant amount of room for their housing. The more space the better. A hedgehog should not be kept in any cage or housing smaller than 3-4 square feet, and ideally more room is always good. I currently keep Lilith in her own modified rabbit hutch that has two levels. Just keep in mind that hogs have poor eyesight, and even little falls can do damage. Blocking off the side portion of your ramp so they can't fall off is a requirement with a two story cage.
However, you definitely don't have to get this fancy. Rabbit hutches are fairly expensive, so if you go this route be prepared for that. It is just as acceptable to buy a 105 QT storage bin and modify it to be a cage. You may want to drill small holes in the side for ventilation, and may need to modify the lid to fit the wheel in. Below you will find a list of appropriate housing options. If I missed anything, feel free to PM me and let me know.
Options 105 QT storage bin or larger Large cage, at least three square feet (critter nation, ware, ect) Vivarium (store bought or home made) Rabbit hutch C&C cage
Have any cage photo examples you'd like added to this post? PM me!
